Jeanette said: "I was surprised and delighted to win the Natural Abstract
category with Frost Feathers. Most of my photography is done with
a DSLR and macro lens, but this was taken with a compact camera, leaning
out of an upper window to photograph the car roof beneath.
"I love the challenges
of nature photography because in nature most things are transient and nothing
is more transient than frost. As the sun rises there's a brief moment when
there is sufficient light to take a decent photograph before the temperature
rises and the frost melts. A few minutes after I captured this image, the
striking pattern was gone."
