Stephen said: "This was my fourth time entering this competition. I came third in the Environmental category last year so I was delighted to get the phone call to say that I had won the Sea and Coast category this year.

"The image was taken of Bow Fiddle Rock at Portknockie on the north-east coastline. I had travelled to the location hoping to get a good sunrise image but the cloud cover was not playing ball as there was a line of clouds along the horizon blocking the sun as it began to rise, but I stayed where I was in the hope that the light may change to my advantage. I was glad I did as the sun lit up the side of the rock formation perfectly."

2nd place: Claire Carter - Dark Rùm from The Isle of Eigg
